Mount Pleasant Community Art Screen Program

We are proud to present a pair of performance-based small-file films on the Mount Pleasant Community Art Screen, in partnership with grunt gallery.

This slender 11.5 megabyte program features Brasília and the Monumental Girl by cerradynho and Snail Dance by Erin Single, curated by Joni Schinkel. Head to the outdoor Screen this month to sample the substance and spirit of this year's festival.

In carradynho's film, the Monumental Girl moves through a city of cold concrete and brutalist design, carrying contradiction in her body until she reaffirms her own warm and vibrant existence. In Single's work, the artist collaborates with the mineral calcite, entangled with snails, loneliness, and the extractive nature of the beauty industry, to tell a story that reaches toward empathy for the landscape itself.
